Subscription setup
Selling with Stripe
Subsail uses Stripe Connect to power subscription payments for your publication.
When you connect Stripe to your Subsail account, customers pay through Stripe and funds go straight to your own Stripe account. Subsail does not hold your funds.
You do not need to set up a Stripe account to use Subsail. This is only for publishers wanting to sell through Subsail. You can import orders from other platforms.
How it works
- You connect an existing Stripe account to Subsail, or create one during setup.
- Customers buy subscriptions through your Subsail checkout.
- Stripe processes the payment and deposits funds directly to your Stripe account.
- Subsail receives payment events from Stripe so subscriptions and renewals can be managed correctly.
Renewal payments
Renewal payments are triggered by Subsail based on the issue release dates you set in your Subsail account.
When a renewal is due, Subsail initiates the charge and the payment is processed in Stripe. Subsail records the payment and creates the subscription data.
